UFO-Network: Your motto “Stories become history” really stands out. How did this phrase turn into a personal life motto for you, and how does it influence the way you make music?
LEA KEY: “Stories become history” was the phrase above the first stage I ever sang on in St. Pauli, Hamburg, my hometown. The phrase never left me, and it reminds me that every song can carry more than just sound. It can capture a feeling, a moment, a truth. In my music, I try to turn personal stories into something universal, something that can live on in others. That motto is like a compass, guiding me to create with passion and depth.
Several moments felt like a significant turning point in my career. From moving to Amsterdam in 2021, performing at my first festival in the Netherlands and seeing the crowd sing along to my lyrics, to getting my songs played on stages like Tomorrowland and Ultra Miami.
What started on intimate local stages soon grew into something much bigger. After moving to Amsterdam in 2021, LEA KEY’s music began resonating on some of the world’s biggest platforms. Her songs have been played at Tomorrowland, Ultra Miami, and EDC, supported by artists including Armin van Buuren, Gryffin, and David Guetta. With releases on Armada, Kontor, and Q-dance, plus more than 43 million streams, she has become one of the most exciting new voices in electronic music.
Her breakout moment came in 2024 with “In the Silence.” The track was named one of the Top Records of the Year on A State of Trance, featured on the ASOT Year Mix, and performed live with Giuseppe Ottaviani in Poland.
Her credits include La Fuente’s ‘RATATA’, a platinum- and gold-certified hit that quickly became one of the most-played tracks on Dutch radio.
It all began when two women crossed paths in the iconic A’dam Tower: Lea Key, a rising voice in dance music, and Adeline, a tech/creative digital project manager. One brought the strategy and production know-how, the other the artistry and emotion.
